2022.01.16 06:51 aceyboy8 Where do you draw the line with FIRE?

I need help/reassurance that what I'm aiming towards is realistic and feasible.
Our situation (29M/27F):
Property: Modest 3 bed PPOR which could use a little more renovating but nothing major apart from a deck. Net Debt: $115k which includes mortgage. Income: Combined salaries around $220k. Super: $130k/$40k
My question is: What metric should I be using to determine when we can quit our mind numbing corporate jobs and pursue either more interesting jobs/part-time work/side businesses for MUCH less income? When net debt = $0?
Has anyone done something similar and what end goal did you use or are planning to use? Did you find any 'keeping up with the Jones" factors kick in and stop you from slowing down?

2022.01.16 06:51 theoderiicc Use Weglot for only CMS blog pages

I have a website with 2 languages(EN/FR). I use weglot, but I don't want it to effect my homepage, because I have 2 different design for 2 different languages(for this reason, I use 2 different page for both languages). I just want weglot to effect my blog post. So I want to ask these questions:
1-How can I set weglot to translate only my CMS blogposts?
2- How can I redirect my en.example.com weglot subheading to my duplicated homepage design? Because I don’t want weglot translated homepage for other language(As I said before, for homepage I want to use my duplicated homepage design, because I use different custom codes.). I want to use weglot only my CMS blog pages.
Please help.

2022.01.16 06:51 ElianaEvangeline Get cutlery that you enjoy eating with

About two years ago my dietician, as part of our mindful eating talks, suggested for me to get nicer tableware. I had heard about getting blue plates to suppress hunger but not about getting nicer cutlery to increase the enjoyment of your meal.
When you're learning to eat less but want to feel satisfied eating those smaller meals, it is important to maximize the enjoyment you derive out of eating. So after doing some research I bought a set of fancy forks, knives and spoons.
The shape of the knives is cool to look at and they cut the food very easily - unlike my old butterknives that I was using. The forks are long and elegant and hefty.
I didn't quite like the big pointed spoons but I got a wooden spoon with my chopsticks once that I really enjoyed, so I got 6 wooden spoons. I love the mouthfeel of wooden spoons! I also have a variety of chopsticks: metal, flat, round, long, short, thick, thin. I like them all depending on what kind of asian dish I'm eating.
Especially for people on the spectrum or people who experience sensory overload this can really be a gamechanger, but I think anyone can increase their enjoyment of food with this. Think about drinking from your favourite mug or eating from that cute bowl you have - it makes drinking tea or eating cereal a lot more enjoyable!
Having grown up poor I never thought of replacing my cutlery or my dishes. "We have forks at home." And I'm sure many can resonate.
So if you have the means, try it. It doesn't have to cost much to get a new plate you enjoy looking at or one mug that feels nice in your hands. Anything that maximizes the enjoyment of your meal, really!

2022.01.16 06:51 ajpms What is it called when something is made intentionally complex to prevent human error?

I've been looking for it all morning. The best example I can give is when a button requires multiple steps before you can press it, like redundancy to prevent accidental activation.
Thanks in advance.

2022.01.16 06:51 RollForThings An Idea to Make Patient Defense More Appealing

I've DMed for two Monks long term and a couple more in one-shots, and something I've noticed across all of these players is that Patient Defense gets used very rarely or not at all. Now, of course Flurry of Blows is the most common use of a Monk's Bonus Action -- it's exciting, it's a big part of the Monk fantasy, and it's a vehicle for many subclass features and Stunning Strike. It's fine that PD is used less often than the other 2nd-Level Ki features, but its lack of use seems disproportionate to me.
I theorize this is because out of the three options, Patient Defense lacks appeal not because it's weak, but because it's less active and less tangible than Flurry of Blows and Step of the Wind. With FoB I spend a Ki point and give myself more attacks. With SotW I spend a point and give myself a free escape or a burst of speed, with extra jump power on the side. But with Patient Defense I spend the point, and the effects it generates are out of my hands, not even up to my own dice but the dice of the DM. The Monk doesn't get to feel the power of using Patient Defense in the way they get to with the other two features.
And so, I'm spitballing a variant of Patient Defense that makes the feature more tangible, active and appealing to players:
Patient Defense (Variant): Spend 1 ki point and roll a Martial Arts die. Until the start of your next turn, add the rolled number to your AC. Additionally, you gain advantage on all Dexterity Saving Throws. You lose this effect if you are Incapacitated.
Essentially, this mimics the Dodge of original PD, just swapping the disadvantage for a boost in AC. The math might turn this out a little weaker at higher and lower levels than Dodge, but the focus here is giving the player something active and tangible. Spend the point, give yourself a visible boost to defense. Players get excited about having high numbers on their character -- AC especially -- and temporarily having a 20+ AC because of a feature feels great.
Please share your thoughts, concerns etc, and thanks for reading.
